Naked Marketing: Tested on Myself

Naked Marketing: Tested on Myself

On 20 September in Granada, the Retrato Alhambra-2025 photoshoot by Spencer Tunick took place:

Vasilii Bernshtein, in the format of participant observation, joined the large-scale marketing event both as a volunteer and as a social researcher.

As a sociologist and entrepreneur, Vasilii Bernshtein took part not only as a researcher but also as a volunteer in Spencer Tunick’s large-scale art intervention in the olive groves of Granada. The project, organised with the support of local businesses and cultural institutions, brought together around two thousand participants to merge contemporary art, marketing, and regional identity into a single visual gesture.

A comprehensive analytical article is currently being prepared, in which this event will be examined through the lens of economic sociology, branding, and hype marketing. Particular attention will be given to the interaction between the artist, the brewery, and the local community, as well as how such projects influence reputational capital and brand perception.

Stay tuned — the full longread will be published on the website soon.
